This residential home on Dudley Shoals Rd in Hickory, NC was afflicted by water seeping in through the basement exterior walls causing a wet basement, moisture all through the basement, mold, and lots of other problematic things for the homeowner. Another problem was existing drains from the basement to the exterior were clogged up from years of neglect. There were also areas in the basement that were just left open to crawl spaces that should have been closed off to prevent further moisture in the basement. We also suspected clogged foundation drains and possibly even clogged downspouts could be contributing to the wet basement. All of this combined with inefficient grading that wasn’t diverting the water away from the house properly led to continual water in the basement and lots of headaches for the owner.

The first service we here at Basement Technologies of Western NC performed was the Exterior Waterproofing. We carefully dug around the basement wall so we could get an idea of what might be happening to the exterior basement wall. We say that the waterproofing of the exterior basement wall had failed so we began to clean and then waterproof the wall to avoid any water breaking in to the home from the exterior basement wall. 

The next solution we had for the  homeowner was an installation of a new drain on the backside of the house due to the fact that the previous basement drains were too low on the property which led them to be constantly filled with standing water which led them to become clogged. 

After this we cleaned and cleared foundation drains, downspouts, and interior basement channels in order to keep water flowing away from the house. 

We finished up the waterproofing of the home by grading the yard in order to provide a nice diversion of water away from the home in order to keep the water from sitting next to the basement walls. 

Altogether we employed various basement waterpoofing strategies to ensure that this home never has to deal with a wet basement or even moisture in their basement. Here at Basement Technologies of Western NC, we keep water from breaking in!
